Welcome!

Storytelling is essential.

The realization started to sink in when I was writing my first research papers back at university. Why should readers care about what we had to say? Compelling presentation seemed the key, but it was always challenging.

Fortunately, I had a good advisor who stressed the importance of the why. Increasingly, our writing evolved around this perennial question. It became the backbone of the stories we created to convince reviewers of the relevance of our work. Yes, at that time, it was mainly the reviewers who needed to be convinced.

Today, I believe that storytelling has even more far-reaching consequences. Almost everything under the umbrella of “culture” is based on storytelling. Shared stories – including myths and fiction – form the basis for large-scale cooperation. Good storytelling is invaluable.

So, here is may take. This blog is a personal playground, where I experiment with all kinds of storytelling. Since storytelling is so important, it is a means of practice for me.

I write about AI, magic, fiction, storytelling, education, and many other things. I document some of the insights I gain in my personal life, from books, social interactions, or any initiatives.

Every day I am curious about what will happen. I hope you are, too. Enjoy!
